Great place for a couples retreat and wedding events. Also if you really want to be near the heart of Cathedral Hill this is the hotel to stay at. Possibly haunted. Did see strange orbs / ball lightening a few times while touring the rooms late at night. Victorian bed and breakfast mansion does have a unique background history. Owner will make you a delicious 9am breakfast.

This was a peculiar visit: a wonderful building and location with less than stellar service. Overall, the service made an otherwise great visit mediocre. Reservation process was typical (online) and straightforward. Once reserved we received routine email updates (automated?) from the host. Our stay was for one night (traveled by train) so we sought to drop off our backpacks so we could explore St. Paul. Two days prior to our visit we emailed a request to drop off our packs in the morning – no response. We arrived in St. Paul and made our way to the Mansion and attempted to drop off our bags. No one was present at 1100 (check out time), but a Ring doorbell called the owner – he expressed dismay, mentioned he was at work, and in the middle of our conversation simply stopped talking - nothing. Moments later he returned to tell us he took another call, did not know of any email we sent making the request, and was at a loss to make any other suggestion. We thanked him and moved on to tour the town with our packs – no big deal but disappointing. We returned at 4pm check-in and met another couple outside of the building waiting to check in (we had a 5 pm dinner reservation). No host. At 4:15 a current resident arrived and let us all in where we could wait out of the cold. At 4:30 we thought we heard someone enter at the back of the house but if they did, they never showed. We called the number for the Mansion and heard a phone ring inside, but no answer. At 4:40 the host arrived, shocked to see us (all booked reservation customers) and immediately asked us to remove our shoes (a nice option for the house, but he seemed upset we still had our shoes on in the reception hall despite not yet knowing this was a house rule). After a brief tour (beautiful house!!!) we were shown our room, provided direction on amenities and meal times, and attempted to provide a room key – which was not available (previous tenant may have taken it away?). Some time later the host returned with a room key. Awesome room, very comfy bed, massive Victorian bathroom and tub, reading balcony and gas fireplace (tricky to start), and quiet location. Very nice. Breakfast was to be set at 9, but started late – host indicated he woke late and was serving in his bathrobe. All residents were present and pleasant breakfasts were brought out sequentially, except the host was short one breakfast – mine. Waiting for some time for the next delivery, it did not arrive, and it was not until we knocked/called did the host arrive and was asked for another setting. The shocked host graciously went back and prepared another plate which arrived after most others had finished. Checkout was simple – leave the key on the dresser. In all it was a wonderful location, a fabulous house and interesting guests. The service just did not match the surroundings.

The New Victorian Bed and Breakfast offers a rare and refined experience: historic elegance paired seamlessly with modern comfort. From the moment you arrive, there is an unmistakable sense of being thoughtfully received rather than simply checked in. Those hesitant about the “bed and breakfast” designation can rest easy. There is nothing quaint or fussy here. Instead, you’ll find heated floors that take the edge off brisk mornings, impeccably appointed rooms, deeply comfortable beds, and reliable Wi-Fi discreetly integrated into the setting. Breakfast is a highlight in the truest sense. The eggs are gathered from the property’s beautifully modernized coop and served fresh from farm to table, a detail that speaks to the care and intention behind every element of the stay. The atmosphere is gracious without stiffness, intimate without intrusion. It is the sort of place that reminds you hospitality can still be personal, elevated, and quietly exceptional. One leaves restored — and already considering a return.

Mohamed is a great host! We had a wonderful stay at His mansion. He personally greeted us, showed us His house and made us feel very welcome and at home. The beautifully restored rooms are a feast for the eyes! All our wishes He accommodated kindly. In the morning He served us a delicious breakfast! The mansion is situated in a quiet, nice neighborhood, conveniently located close to Downtown. We can definitely recommend this Bed and Breakfast!

Wow, what an amazing, gorgeous, comfortable place to stay! I grew up in St. Paul and am so happy to have found a place to stay whenever I visit family. I stayed in the Marshall Room in the penthouse. I booked through a third party site and didn't read the details about my room (my bad) so I didn't know about the shared bathroom or that it was separate from the main B&B, which is all clearly laid out on the B&B's own website, but that was NO BIG DEAL. The bathroom was very clean and all of the other guests were quiet and kept to themselves. Even though breakfast wasn't technically included with my room there was fresh fruit and juice and fresh eggs from the owner's own chickens in the fridge. I was alone this time but can't wait to come back with my husband and stay in one of the suites.

The New Victorian Mansion Bed and Breakfast is a gorgeous historic home which has been carefully updated for comfort (heated bathroom floors!) while preserving the character of the home. Everything in the building is lovingly cared for, clean, and beautiful. The views of the Cathedral are stunning, especially at night. The owner/manager was extremely considerate, preparing and packing a home- cooked meal we took to the airport with us early in the morning of the day we checked out. The area is very walkable and really lovely, with a park across from the B&B, restaurants a short walk away, and the iconic Cathedral dominating the landscape. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the outstanding service. I hope we can return soon.

The food was excellent. The owner was phenomenal, gives caring dad energy. We stayed in the Cathedral, which was stunning. The place felt very cozy in the winter, we wanted to lay on the heated tile floors, they were so nice. Everything felt very clean, with great attention to detail.

The room was very cozy and clean. Breakfast was amazing and it was wonderful to visit with other guests. We will surely be visiting again. A very romantic getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay here! The cathedral neighborhood is beautiful and this bed and breakfast is the star. The rooms were so fun and stunning. We loved the shared areas as well and were amazed at the beautiful architecture and design throughout. Mohamed was an amazing host who was available whenever we needed anything. The breakfast was fabulous and we so enjoyed staying here. The royal suite was nicer than any 5 star hotel with so much room. We highly recommend this and would definitely return!

The location is in the beautiful Cathedral Hill neighborhood, right across the street from a park and some of St. Paul's best restaurants. It's quiet, with off street parking. The mansion itself is well-maintained. Historic and beautiful. There are a wide variety of experiences here. I chose one of the less expensive options, which includes a shared bathroom. It would be fun to splurge on one of the suites. Sharing breakfast with two groups of people I didn't know turned out to be the highlight of my stay. Lovely people and smart conversation. What a great way to start my day! Your host, Mohammed, has created a wonderful check in that includes a tour of the home, including a lovely backyard where the chickens lay fresh eggs and a garden helps provide ingredients for an incredible breakfast.
