The Courtyard by Marriott St. Paul Woodbury receives mixed reviews, with some praising its convenient location, comfortable beds, and friendly staff, while others report significant issues with cleanliness, service, and operational problems. Recent feedback highlights concerns regarding staffing shortages, billing errors, and unresolved maintenance issues.
Nice hotel. Great outdoor patio. I didnt use all the facility with my schedule this week. But pool looked nice as well as the hot tub. The desk people were helpful. The morning girl was attentive behind the food bar. Rooms were clean and plenty of hot water. Bed was comfortable with lots of full size pillows. Texas Roadhouse was in the parking lot. Lots of places to eat surrounding the area.
Awful hotel experience. We attempted to check in at 3am for a wedding and found our room had been given away and there were no more rooms left. The receptionist at the desk was unhelpful, rude, and apathetic of the situation. He told us "there is nothing more I can for you", told us to leave and go to the hotel next door as our room is now at that hotel instead. We were sleep deprived coming off of a delayed flight and this added fuel to the fire of an already frustrating day. A few of our other friends had the same experience (we all booked the same hotel) and the same rude service at the front desk. I don't know how a hotel managed to overbook multiple rooms for a single night, but this probably speaks to the quality of the hotel management as a whole. I do not recommend booking this hotel unless want your room given away like ours.
Marriott is my preferred hotel chain, but I encountered a few issues with this particular courtyard. Upon upgrading to a suite, I noticed a persistent clicking noise emanating from above, likely originating from the floor. This noise persisted every evening, night, and morning, causing significant annoyance. Furthermore, there were two televisions positioned adjacent to each other. Whenever I turned on or off one of the televisions, the other would automatically turn on or off as well, which was equally disruptive. During my first night, I arrived late and purchased items from the snack bar. Unfortunately, the printer was malfunctioning, and I was unable to obtain a receipt. I patiently waited for a while and eventually took a screenshot of the charge using my mobile device. Another notable observation was that during breakfast, there was only one individual responsible for serving as the cashier, food delivery person, and coffee maker. This resulted in extended wait times for customers. In the future, I would likely consider staying at the Residence Inn, which is located next door.
This is my first time staying at a Marriott. Upon check in, I was assigned a room that someone was already checked in at. This is very disturbing and can lead to safety and other embarrassing issues. Luckily I was entering the room at the same time with her. Both our keycards worked. I was assigned a new room but the front desk and manager didn’t really seem like it was a big deal to be assigned same room as another guest. Very disturbing. In addition, I first reserved a room through Marriott website using the option for total price after tax, which came out to $199. My bill came through as $254. Prior to checkout I spoke to the manager and showed him my confirmation email, and expressed displeasure of being assigned the same room. He asked if it was ok to comp $40 off of the room. I asked what the total price would be and he replied “I don’t know”. He said he was unable to change the price and needs to speak with his manager. He also said he won’t check me out since there was a dispute. I showed him my confirmation email with $199, he took down my info. No one called, no one emailed, no one texted, and then my credit card was charged $254. This has been a nightmare scenario, ruined my vacation having to deal with a billing dispute.
The rooms were okay, and we found everyone helpful. I hate that Courtyards do not have complimentary coffee. And the bistro is an overpriced and time-consuming option. The location was great. I am just concerned about the cleanliness of the grounds. Lots of discarded cigarette butts, dead birds all around from the swallows falling out of nests. And though I realize the swallows are a battle, it would be nice if their excrement were cleaned up and not left in piles by the front door. The hot tub and pool worked fine, but there is a lot of rusty metal in that area.
The overall experience was good, didn't like the food that I paid for, I'm a big coffee drinker, wasn't available when I wanted which is all day, it's a very nice place parking was good but the place and the prices are just not me
Excellent Staff. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, they prepare a hot breakfast daily, but room would benefit from a coat hook near the door, especially in colder weather.
The two rooms that we were in were interesting one room the bathroom was filthy throw up on the floor hair all in the tub and the room they moved us to sink Handel was missing
As a Lifetime Titanium member, the Woodbury Courtyard has been our home away from home for the past seven years when we’re in the area. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, which is why we continue to stay here. That’s why this last visit — over two weeks — was frustrating. We completely understand that rooms aren’t serviced when the Do Not Disturb sign is on the door. But our room was also missed several times when it wasn’t. I had to stop by the front desk multiple times just to get basic items like toilet paper, and we ended up taking our own trash out daily. We’re not high-maintenance and don’t need service every day, but being repeatedly overlooked without any communication isn’t okay. It would really help if housekeeping procedures were clearly explained at check-in so guests know what to expect. Also, the televisions need to be replaced. The screens are very dark and the picture quality isn’t clear, which definitely impacts the overall experience. We really like this property and want to keep coming back — but this stay didn’t meet the standard we’re used to.
Hotel was clean, clean room, friendly staff, pool area was clean, hot tub was at temperature with all jets working. Double queen suite was a good value. Smart TV for sleeping area and another in the sitting/"living room" area. Logged in to Netflix no problem. No refrigerator though...? ? definitely a must for drinks, snacks, and possible leftovers from dinner. NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST!! Huge bummer for me. $15 for 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, frozen potatoes cubes, and toast. Whatever if its just you but with a family, that adds up! Serve a limited Starbucks menu for coffee. So add $8 to that breakfast! ? ? Texas Roadhouse is right across the parking lot. -5min Walking distance to Whole Foods, Sierra Trading Post, etc. Across the road is Cabelas, Home Depot, TJ Maxx, Dicks, Ulta, Tamarack Taproom, grocery store, little Ceasars, smoke shop, etc. If you like to "thrift", theres a Savers 1/2 mile away and a Goodwill 6-7min Uber away. Walmart and Sams Club by Goodwill. Location is great! If you get a little too freaky 1 night and pull a hammy, theres physically therapy Across the parking lot as well!! Lmao ? ?
