The Hyatt Place St. Paul/Downtown is a popular choice, praised for its spacious rooms, high ceilings, and convenient location near Union Station and Union Depot. Many guests highlight the helpful and friendly staff, particularly at the front desk, and appreciate the hotel’s overall cleanliness and aesthetic, particularly its historic building conversion. However, recurring issues with inconsistent hot water and limited breakfast options have been noted, alongside parking concerns and occasional maintenance hiccups.
The staff is phenomenal at the Hyatt downturn St. Paul. I had questions by phone and the customer service was impeccable. Once I arrived, checkin was fast and smooth, and the front desk worker was great. The rooms are clean and the vaulted ceilings are a plus. The valet are great as well. We will be back!
Beautiful hotel housed in a stunning historic building. The hotel has been updated and is in excellent condition. What really stands out is the incredible sense of space. The corridors are wide and the room ceilings are impressively high. Honestly, the accommodations felt superior to many 5-star hotels. The staff were also wonderful. I had accidentally booked the wrong date, but she corrected the reservation so my family could check in without any issues.
Negative vibe. The hostess that greeted us was cold and rude from the start. When we booked the room, we tried to make sure we had 2 beds and were told we'd get our room when we get here. There's 5 of us; two adults and 3 teens. They gave us a room with a pull out bed and a king bed. The kids went to swim and we learned the pool was closed. When we asked about it she said 'Oh, maintenance must have closed it.' when we asked if it would open in the morning, she said, 'It depends on if maintenance opens it.' I'm just not impressed with the tone she has or her hospitality. In the morning we expressed our feelings with the new staff about our experience the previous night. She looked in her computer and discovered there was indeed rooms to better accommodate us. She didn't understand why they didn't give us a room to better accommodate us. The manager, Tyler, was no help either. The hotel was good, but their customer service leaves a plethora of room for improvement.
I have the same problems as others have noted. We had to change rooms because the shower head was leaking, and they couldn't get maintenance in to check it out. After we moved, we woke up to no water. They said the water main in the next building broke. Apparently, this happens a lot to this particular hotel. We left for the entire day, when we returned, the water was working. However, there wasn't any hot water. I called the front desk on multiple occasions without answer. Went downstairs to get help to find that there is only one person working the front desk, the bar, and the grill while the phone is ringing continuously. There were other issues, but these were the bigger of the problems we had. I am sure some people have a great stay, but overall my family and I have had a horrible experience. The tall ceilings in the room are nice. It makes the room feel super spacious.
What an awesome place to stay. I've stayed here several times so far and my experiences have all been great. Mary is so wonderful and so impressive. She makes everybody feel welcome and accommodated. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, with massive windows overlooking downtown SP. The continental breakfast is typical, but well done. The pool is shallow and warm, perfect for children. Parking can be tough, vut the valet staff have always been friendly and timely. This location is fantastic, with a few breweries and delicious restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The food and drinks here are also pretty darn good. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone visiting SP.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious enough and the front desk is competent and kind, but that’s kind of where my praise stops. I stayed here for a week for work and returned to my room no less than 4 or 5 times during my stay to NO HOT WATER at all. Ended up comping us a room at the hotel down the road to shower in. Multiple times. We were told it was fixed multiple times, only for it to break again the next day. The room doors are heavy, and latch unbelievably loudly. The ceilings, while vaulted and cool, are too tall for proper air circulation (the singular vent is near the super tall ceiling) so the room doesn’t really warm up much. This hotel being retrofit into an older building (post office) makes the room layout kind of a maze. Security guard was a little too suspicious of me taking a phone call in the hallway outside my room late at night while my roommate (double bed room) was sleeping, and asked unreasonable questions. I’d skip this hotel if you have better options. It’s really not worth it. Even if they do get hot water back someday (allegedly).
Sooth check in, huge rooms, clean comfortable property. We were a group of 20 visited for meeting at 3M HQ in st paul. We checked in quite late at night. The girl at reception was quite helpful and knowing her job perfectly. She understands the needs of hotel guests and provide guidance and solve the problem. I forgot her name but she was was charming face , Quite young and slim. I wish her great future in hospitality industry. God bless her. I wish they could have more hot items for breakfast like waffle , pancakes, omlette etc. I would definitely recommend this place to stay in st.paul.
Rooms are big with tall ceilings. I actually wasn't sure what to do with all of the space. Bathroom was a 5ft wide shower. All new and clean. Breakfast area has a large sitting with various options. The automatic drapes were next level, futuristic, as least for my standards. Spent a week here and this was most definitely one of the most upper level Hyatt's I've ever stayed in as a World Hyatt member.
This was our first stay at the Hyatt Place St. Paul. It is one of the nicest Hyatt Places we have stayed at (and we have stayed at many in the US and internationally)! The building is absolutely beautiful (very cool older building) and in such a cool part of downtown St. Paul. We loved exploring the area and had a wonderful lunch at Cosetta's (highly recommended). The standard room was absolutely massive and finishes were gorgeous. Parking is a little tricky but we enjoyed the free valet parking as Globalist members. Decent breakfast and very kid friendly. Highly recommended and such a gem of a find!
The rooms were spacious and clean. The view from our room was a wall even being up a few floors. They offer laundry facilities 1 washer and 1 working dryer. Staff was acomidating. They don't
